Coronavirus-what we know and what to do

As of this writing 82,721 cases of Coronavirus and 2,817 deaths have been reported worldwide (www.worldometers.info/coronavirus). While panic is not recommended, we do believe taking action to protect your health would be wise at this time. What is Coronavirus? On February 11, 2020 the World Health Organization announced an official name for the disease that is causing the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, first identified in Wuhan China. The new name of this disease is coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated as COVID-19.

There are many types of human coronaviruses including some that commonly cause mild upper-respiratory tract illnesses. COVID-19 is a new disease, caused by a novel (or new) coronavirus that has not previously been seen in humans. It is believed to have been transmitted from animals to humans (which is pretty rare) but now is passed from person to person.

What are the symptoms?

Current symptoms reported include mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. That said, reports and severity of symptoms vary widely, from no symptoms (which does not mean the disease won't progress and potentially result in death) to very severe. The disease spreads quickly, and while the vast majority of cases are still in China, there are reported cases in many countries, including the United States. Italy has quarantined 11 towns and world health organizations are saying there is a definite pandemic possibility.

Who's at Risk?

While everyone is potentially at risk, those believed to be at highest risk are smokers, the elderly, and others with compromised immune systems. There are other indicators including race and certain genetic markers, but there is still a lot unknown.

Treatment and Recovery

Studies are on-going and treatment is evolving, but so far, positive outcomes are being reported from Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Suggestions from the Center for Disease Control

Do what you do for any cold or flu - wash your hands, stay home if you're sick, avoid contact with sick people, clean and disinfect

Suggestions from Smithson Clinic

Strengthen Your Immune System!!!!

A strong immune system is your best defense against any cold, virus or super virus. It's never a bad idea to take action steps towards improving your immune response, but now it's critically important. Some of our recommended actions are do-it-yourself, others involve Neuromodulation Technique (NMT) and Chinese Herbs.

1. Eat and drink well - 15 Foods to Boost Immune System, Foods and Drinks that Compromise Immune System

2. Move your body and/or get massages - though not part of the immune system, the lymph system is our first defense against toxins. Movement and massage are critical to a healthy lymph system.

3. Decrease Stress - stress causes inflammation which compromises the immune system. For quick and simple ways to reduce and handle stress, visit www.melaniesmithson.com and read blog posts (and/or read Stress Free in 30 Seconds).

4. Be kind, act with love, meditate, pray and do whatever it takes to raise your vibration and stay out of fear.

5. Take Chinese Herbs- there are several formulas we recommend (Ilex 15, Astragulus, Jade Wind) based on the initial findings in China. These will differ for each person, so come in or call and discuss with Gail (whose training included Traditional Chinese Medicine).

6. Schedule NMT treatments. Each body is unique and may need different treatments, but the ones we expect to be using primarily are:

- Infectious Agent and Toxic Flora Pathway
- Cell Intelligence Pathway
- Immune System Optimization Pathway
- Stress and Tension Transformation Pathway
- Allergy and Adverse Inflammation Pathway

The cost of a Neuromodulation treatment with Gail is $75. We are offering an individual package special of $185 for three treatments, or $290 for five treatments. We are also offering family treatments and packages. Call us at 303-762-8994 to discuss. When you call, please reference the coronavirus special. We are not setting an expiration date at this time.

Wishing you and your loved ones happy healthy immune systems!
