Feeling Stuck?

Do Something, or Do Nothing

Do Something

Way too often, we stop ourselves from doing anything because we don’t know what to do.  We won’t make a decision, for fear of getting it wrong.  Who cares?  So what?  Do it wrong.  At least then you’ll know and you’ll be on your way to doing it right (if such a thing exists).  I’ve seen this state referred to as ‘analysis paralysis’.  Love it!  Your thoughts may be sabotaging your actions by telling you that you have to know how it’s going to turn out.  Don’t listen to your mind.  Just Do It!  This Nike slogan is powerful in more ways than meets the eye.

When you ‘do it’ you are not only inviting the strong potential of feeling better about yourself, you are opening the door to seeing other possibilities.  Heaven only knows how many mistakes I’ve made in the realm of investing in PR, seminars and coaches that have not paid in the way I hoped they would.  Yet, there’s not a one that I didn’t learn something from, even if it was never to do that again.  One step leads to another.  We can never be 100% sure of a step until we take it and trying to figure it out in advance is not going to change that.

Or Do Nothing

Yes, I’m contradicting myself.  But sometimes when we feel stuck, the problem is that we are doing too much and we lose sight of what we’re doing and why we’re doing it and what we’d rather be doing.  At these times, it makes sense to stop and wonder (don’t think, wonder).  Let yourself get silent, meditate if you will, and listen.  You may want to whisper a prayer to God, the universe or whoever you turn to for guidance and support.  And then, remember to let go of what you think the answer should be.
